The authors – software engineer and writer Kevin Simler and economics professor Robin Hanson – start from the premise that we are often unaware of the real reasons for our behaviours: they go through several examples\, explaining them through that framework of signalling and self-deception. Meaty and interesting. (The publisher’s website describes the book as aiming “to track down the darker\, unexamined corners of our psyches and blast them with floodlights”.)
