\u201cWhat is the ultimate goal of a city?\u201d asks architect\/artist Hamad Almuzaini: \u201cGovernance and the streamlining of lived experience \u2013 an impossible task \u2013 or something more open, broken, and constantly reinvented?\u201d He says these questions guide his work across photography, drawing, and sculpture as he probes the entangled systems and countless stakeholders that make and remake environments we call \u2018home\u2019. \u201cMy practice involves observing and researching built environments and the ways we generate and respond to the notion of ‘place’ \u2026 By examining widely encountered subjects within cities, I reinterpret how we navigate and interact with these places \u2013 uncovering gestures, behaviours, and motivations that quietly shape the act of placemaking.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exhibition looks at placemaking within the context of Kuwait City, considering everyday details, overlooked objects, and urban infrastructures that shape places to trace the subtle relationships between people, objects, systems, and the built environment.<\/p>\n
