Having specialised in abstraction early in his career, Dilg\u2019s evolution towards landscape painting retained an especial awareness of spatial relationships \u2013 &#8220;a consciousness of the physical and allusory [sic] weight of forms and structures,&#8221; as the gallery puts it. &#8220;His landscapes transcend scenery, becoming a lexicon of objects, each powerfully charged with memory and meaning.
