Calder\u2019s gouaches on paper, with their bold colours and rhythmic compositions, provide a visual counterpoint to Hiquily\u2019s sculptural explorations of balance, weightlessness, and abstraction. These works, essential to Calder\u2019s creative process, exhibit the same principles that animate his mobiles, two of which are included in this exhibition \u2013 <em>New Old Universe<\/em> (1953), an elegant example of his &#8216;constellations&#8217;, and <em>Caged Stone on Yellow Stalk<\/em> (1966), a rare standing mobile.
