There are obvious references to the Harlequin of the\u202fCommedia\u202fdell\u2019Arte, a sly servant moved by an insatiable hunger, a trickster who ultimately derives from a devil character in medieval Passion Plays. <em>Harleking<\/em>\u2018s mode of\u202fcommunication has something of ancient wall decorations in which monstrous figures blend in\u202fwith elegant ornament \u2013 figures which can evoke amusement without any joy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">The second performance, part of the Frontiers dance programme, for this piece by Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi.
