The Dubai-based Serbian singer, songwriter, pianist and composer <strong>Aleksandra Krstic<\/strong> has performed in a classical, jazz, funk, soul and pop styles, both solo and in bands; she&#8217;s also worked as a recording artist with jazz and electronic music artists. She has a nice sultry voice for self-accompanied Ella Fitzgerald style jazz. The award-winning Lebanese singer <strong>Tania Kassis<\/strong> (above) has won acclaim for her powerful soprano and crossover jazz-tinged Arabic melodies (check out our her <em>Live at l&#8217;Olympia<\/em> disc to get some idea of her range and capabilities, especially the lovely &#8216;Islamo Christian Ave&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>The schedule:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>4-5.30pm<\/em> <strong>Tour<\/strong> of the island and the Butterfly House<br \/>\n<em>6-6.40pm<\/em> Jazz piano <strong>workshop<\/strong> with Rami Atallah (included in the ticket price, we think, but first come first served)<br \/>\n<em>7-8.30pm<\/em> Interval for dinner<br \/>\n<em>8.30-9.30pm<\/em> <strong>Aleksandra Krstic<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>9.30-10.30pm<\/em>\u00a0<strong>Tania Kassis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The AED 100 ticket price buys you entry to the music, but there&#8217;s also a 250 AED option which includes dinner before the main acts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">Jazz under the stars on Sharjah&#8217;s Al Noor Island \u2013 though again we&#8217;re not sure either artist would regard themselves as characteristic of (or confined to) the jazz genre.
