The seventh edition of Sharjah Art Foundation\u2019s Focal Point art book fair \u2013 the region\u2019s only art book fair, we think \u2013 features local and international publishers with book launches, talks, workshops and musical performances during its run (22 to 24 November at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, 10am to 4pm each day).<\/p>\n
Featuring artists\u2019 presses, bookmakers, self-publishers and non-commercial cultural producers, this year\u2019s edition encourages the community to engage with independent publishing and the central role of books as tools for social mobilisation and the development of a free and just world.\u00a0 This year, Sharjah Art Foundation has invited several community leaders, artists, graphic designers and independent practitioners to present a selection of publications from their respective cultural ecosystems at Focal Point; the fair will also include workshops on sketching, writing and zine-making, in addition to conversations, readings, presentations and meet-and-greet sessions.<\/p>\n
