The inaugural Tanweer Festival promises \u201ca three-day celebration that transcends language, culture, and borders\u201d on 22, 23 and 24 November in the desert at Mleiha, itself a treasure of visual and archaeological significance. \u2018Tanweer\u2019 means something like \u2018enlightenment\u2019, and the festival\u2019s programme includes live music (headliners include Sami Yusuf and Senny Camara; there’s also gnawa, oud, and more); Emirati traditional dance and whirling dervish performances; poetry, art, and workshops. So there’s a distinct heritage vibe, but there will be lots of food stalls too, plus a marketplace and art installations. On-site experiences also include stargazing, horseriding, and \u201cother activities that nurture a holistic sense of well-being\u201d.
