{"id":55236,"date":"2024-04-15T18:23:04","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T14:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magpie.ae\/staging4\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=55236"},"modified":"2024-04-15T18:23:04","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T14:23:04","slug":"torn","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/magpie.ae\/staging4\/event\/torn\/","title":{"rendered":"Torn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The world premiere of a new play written and directed by the award-winning Australian writer\/director Alex Broun, well known to Dubai audiences for the past 15 or so years (not least from his promotion of and participation in the Short + Sweet playlet festivals). <em>Torn<\/em> is described as &#8220;a sexy, fast-paced, brutal, funny and at times moving dissection of post-millennium relationships &#8230; with echoes of Patrick Marber&#8217;s <em>Closer<\/em>&#8220;; lawyer Susan (Nadine Basiony) is in a relationship with advertising executive Cade (Osman Aboubakr), and voiceover artist Gerry (Elie Choufani) is in love with Susan\u2019s PA Daniella (Lis Panilla). &#8220;<em>Torn<\/em> is about the impossibility and possibility of love in a modern world where choices abound and nothing is forever &#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alex Broun knows how theatre works best, and he does good dialogue and excellent plots. This should be a good show.
