{"id":51813,"date":"2024-02-14T16:52:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T12:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magpie.ae\/staging4\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=51813"},"modified":"2024-02-14T16:52:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T12:52:47","slug":"sharjah-architecture-triennial-material-land-narratives","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/magpie.ae\/staging4\/event\/sharjah-architecture-triennial-material-land-narratives\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharjah Architecture Triennial: Material &#038; Land Narratives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sharjah Architecture Triennial (SAT) is hosting the final day of public programme for its second edition, The Beauty of Impermanence: An Architecture of Adaptability, which runs until 10 March. &#8216;Material &amp; Land Narratives&#8217; explores the regenerative potential of earthen materials and land narratives:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">11am \u2013 1pm<\/span><strong> Workshop on Earthen Architecture: Material and Building Techniques <\/strong>Architect and building conservator Felipe Gutierrez leads the workshop; participants(15 max)\u00a0 will learn about the earth as a building material, identify soils that are suitable for construction, and apply techniques \u2013 construct ingmasonry blocks, formulating natural plasters and creating prototypes of traditional earth wall constructions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">11am-1pm<\/span> <strong>Curator walkthrough led by Tosin Oshinowo<\/strong> SAT&#8217;s curator guides a tour of the projects at Al Qasimiyah School.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">2-2.20pm<\/span> <strong>Introduction by Tosin Oshinowo <\/strong>Oshinowo expands on the theme for this edition of SAT, elabortating the ideas behind three overlapping curatorial strands: Renewed Contextual, Intangible Bodies, and Extraction Politics.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">2.20-3.45pm<\/span> <strong>Panel discussion: Material and Land Narratives <\/strong>Featuring Joelle Eyeson and Kwame Deheer (co-founders of Hive Earth); Mahavir Acharya (co-founder of Hunnarshala); Sumaya Dabbagh (founder of Dabbagh Architects); Felipe Gutierrez (architect and building conservator at the DCT Abu Dhabi) and Wayne Switzer (architect and educator) as moderator.
