Moon Is The Oldest TV: dir Amanda Kim (2023)

17 May 2025 · 5.30 pm – 7.30 pm · Free
Manarat al Saadiyat · Abu Dhabi

Kim’s documentary profiles the career of Nam June Paik and his pioneering contributions to video art. A timely meditation on the contradictory ways in which technology elicits both fascist tendencies and intercultural understanding, the film charts Paik’s artistic evolution with an extensive archive of performance footage, original interviews from Paik’s contemporaries and collaborators, and a voiceover of Nam June Paik’s writings.

It screens alongside the current Layered Medium: We Are in Open Circuits exhibition of South Korean art from the last six decades, which riffs on Nam June Paik’s vision of ‘open circuits’ where connection and meaning flow beyond boundaries.
