DESCRIPTION:The inaugural Fujairah Children’s Book Fair will run 13-19 October 13 to 19 at Fujairah’s Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall. We know little about the event – it has Instagram and Facebook accounts\, but right now they’re post-free and there’s no website – but it will feature publishers from the UAE\, Saudi Arabia\, Kuwait\, Egypt and Jordan in four thematic zones: Imagination\, Adventure\, Creative and Future. Alongside the publishers’ stands there will be a programme of events including  workshops and conversations with authors.

DESCRIPTION:A second performance for Kate Hamill’s “feminist revenge fantasy” – which infuses the familiar vampire tale with post-modern wit and “a stake through the heart of toxic masculinity”\, as the New York Times put it when it was first performed. “The world women inhabit in this loose\, rollicking adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel is frightening precisely because it’s not so different from our own …” It’s also great fun\, a racy\, action-packed narrative that should make for a highly entertaining evening. Satyen Chandiramani directs for the Junction’s resident H72 Productions. \nThere are further performances at 2pm and 7.30pm on 20 October.

Specifically\, this semi-educational evening for a chamber orchestra looks at the role of secret societies in Haydn’s Symphony No.45\, Mozart’s Divertimento in F major:\, Beethoven’s Overture to ‘The Creatures of Prometheus’ and Salieri’s Venetian Symphony. Now that’s an interesting programme; it should make for an interesting evening\, especially with ToDA’s all-round visuals. It lasts an hour and 40 minutes.
