DESCRIPTION:The final two performances (at 5pm and 8pm) of this “sexy\, fast-paced\, brutal\, funny and at times moving dissection of post-millennium relationships … With echoes of Patrick Marber’s Closer\, torn is about the impossibility and possibility of love in a modern world where choices abound and nothing is forever”. Written and directed by award winning Australian writer/director Alex Broun\, assisted by Alexander Rondel\, torn is set in modern-day New York\, with four people in various stages of connection – lawyer Susan (Nadine Basiony) is in a relationship with advertising executive Cade (Osman Aboubakr: that’s them above)\, and Gerry (Basel Yafi)\, a voice-over artist\, is in love with Susan’s PA Daniella (Kethy Kist).

SUMMARY:Umm Kulthum & The Golden Era
DESCRIPTION:Two final performances for this show telling the life story of Umm Kulthum\, the most famous songstress of Egypt and the Arab world\, from the 1920s to the 1970s – culminating in a grand concert at the Olympia in Paris. The role of Umm Kulthum will be performed by Syrian opera singer Lubana Al-Quntar\, and with a live orchestra we’re promised iconic songs from different eras of Umm Kulthum’s canon – including classics such as Ghanili\, Alf Laylah\, Serat el Hob and Hob Eyh. \nThere are performances at 2pm and 8pm.

SUMMARY:Fujairah Children's Book Fair
DESCRIPTION:The inaugural Fujairah Children’s Book Fair will run 13-19 October 13 to 19 at Fujairah’s Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall. We know little about the event – it has Instagram and Facebook accounts\, but right now they’re post-free and there’s no website – but it will feature publishers from the UAE\, Saudi Arabia\, Kuwait\, Egypt and Jordan in four thematic zones: Imagination\, Adventure\, Creative and Future. Alongside the publishers’ stands there will be a programme of events including  workshops and conversations with authors.
