SUMMARY:Othello
DESCRIPTION:You can’t fault the Junction’s resident H72 theatre company for lack of ambition; Othello is an expansive play\, full of big characters and demanding powerful acting to deliver Shakespeare’s tale of jealousy\, interpersonal politics and social commentary. We know little of this show – it wasn’t featuring on the Junction’s website when we were compiling the Agenda – but anything directed by Gautam Goenka is going to be worth seeing. \nThere are shows on 17\, 18 and 19 May.

SUMMARY:Tommy Tiernan\, Kevin Bridges\, Joanne McNally
DESCRIPTION:Two of Britain’s best standups share this Abu Dhabi Comedy Week with a “special guest”. The men are both established\, both very funny\, and both get less attention than they deserve; Tiernan is everything you want from a droll Irish comic (with a dash of the slightly baffled inhabitant of modern life that he parlayed into a starring part as the hapless dad in Derry Girls)\, Bridges comes with acid Scottish wit (“working in Poundstretcher\, eh? Working in a shop where everything is worth a quid except you”). Irish comic and podcaster Joanne McNally was a late addition to the bill\, which has bumped up the ticket prices. Even so\, this gig is highly recommended

SUMMARY:Ahmed Al-Kadri
DESCRIPTION:The Yemeni/American standup is coming to Abu Dhabi for Comedy Week. He’s good\, and though his improv and TikTok and Instagram shorts have been a viral hit he deserves a wider audience for his way with anecdotes and “jokes about those little things in life you just have to laugh at”. Recommended (and so is this bar\, a new-to-us venue for comedy at the top of the Sofitel with fine views over the city).
