Eman Al Hashemi: The Horizon We Inherit
Al Hashemi’s practice examines what it means to remain human within increasingly automated systems of production and consumption – especiallyy seen through urban life in the Emirates. Al Hashemi works across ceramics, printmaking and painting, “investigating the systems through which contemporary experience is organized: the routes that structure daily movement, the artificial illuminations that shape public space, and the habitual routines through which urban environments are encountered and internalised … Central to this inquiry is the sun, which recurs throughout the exhibition as both a defining condition of life in the UAE and a means of thinking through the relationship between body, landscape, and the built environment”.
