Jamal Bassiouni: The World of Mirrors

A solo exhibition for the noted Egyptian artist’s vivid and poignant paintings exploring ancient Egyptian beliefs regarding enlightenment and the afterlife. As the artist puts it: “In The world of Mirrors we say what is above is what is below, a soul to heaven and a body to earth. A journey starts as the sun sets inside of us and we are to receive the resurrection while we live. A process of pain and suffering to happiness and pleasure. Never forget that the words are
not the reality, only reality is the reality; pictures, symbols, lines that cut through time, without a beginning and without an end”.
