Dubai Culture is inviting applications for the 8th edition of the SIKKA Art Fair, to be held 21–24 March 2018 in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood as part of Art Week.
This is a real opportunity for emerging artists, craftspeople and collectives to be part of an increasingly popular event that is getting a lot of heft from Dubai Culture. Its Acting DG, Saeed Al Nabouda, put the official line: “SIKKA Art Fair has become a regional hub for creativity that year on year attracts emerging artists and cultural enthusiasts from across the world to gather for a celebration of creative talent. This is a major part of our efforts to achieve the Dubai Plan 2021 vision of a city of happy, creative and empowered people who are proud of their cultural identities, and also fulfils our mandate to nurture and support local talent”.
The fair’s scope is getting broader, too. Dubai Culture is looking for “completely original and unpublished work” which can be displayed in the wide variety of indoor and outdoor spaces that Al Fahidi offers.
Applications are invited from individuals or groups based in or established in the UAE or GCC countries and working in visual arts, performing arts, music or film – though past experience suggests just about anything could be considered. Apply before 20 December; the application form is here.
