Meet in March

Sharjah Art Foundation’s Spring 2022 programme has been unveiled, featuring a packed schedule of exhibitions alongside the 14th edition of the Foundation’s annual March Meeting.

There will be major solo shows of work by Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Khalil Rabah, CAMP, Aref El Rayess and Gerald Annan-Forson.

The March Meeting, which runs 5-7 March, provides an opportunity for artists, curators, scholars and art practitioners to discuss and debate critical issues in contemporary art through talks, panels, lectures, films and performances. The 2022 theme is The Afterlives of the Postcolonial, engaging with the theoretical framework of next year’s Sharjah Biennial 15: Thinking Historically in the Present (SB15 opens February 2023).

The Meeting will examine the legacies of colonialism and its contemporary impact on cultural, aesthetic and artistic practices around the world. From this perspective, participants will be analysing an array of current global issues – among them racism, settler colonialism, apartheid, persistent structural inequalities, new imperial wars, migration, social movements including Black Lives Matter, Indigenous rights, climate change and the restitution of looted artefacts.

Registration for March Meeting 2022 is available via this link. It’s free to attend.
