We maintain a calendar of events around the world that seem relevant to the magpie mission – namely the kind of things that magpie likes to cover, everything from art and design fairs to street art and light festivals. This isn’t specifically for producing articles and the like in magpie, more for our own education and generally keeping up to date with what the event organisers think is hot, what’s now passé, and how much of it matters.

We have upcoming dates in eight categories – art, design, literature, dance, jazz, photography, light festivals and a catch-all ‘other’ subsection. We’re planning to add further categories (along with clickable hotlinks to the event websites) but in the meantime we have colour-coded the what’s-on table as follows:
