Litfest finds a new home

The boulevard at Al Habtoor City: next year's Litfest venue

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature 2022 will run 3 to 12 February in a new canalside location – it’s moved from its long-time home at Festival City to a new venue, the Al Habtoor City complex of three Hilton-family hotels, just where SZR crosses the canal.

There will also be “special events and activations” at Expo 2020; and the 2022 Litfest has a suitably cheery theme, Here Comes the Sun.

That’s perfect for a post pandemic world, said Litfest Director Ahlam Bolooki. “This is the dawn of a new, forward-looking era. The 2022 Festival will bring optimism, renewal and it will shed light on issues that are usually obscured by the dark, including some of the most important topics of our time.”

The authors taking part in this year’s Festival will be named next month. Over the past 13 years of Litfest more than 1,700 have spoken at the Festival; and 2021’s hybrid version apparently reached more than 117,000 people, thanks to the live streaming.
