Twenty-Eight Nights and a Poem: dir Akram Zaatari (2015)
29 September @ 7.30 pm - 9.00 pmAED 52.50
A striking visual essay that continues Lebanese artist Akram Zaatari’s ongoing engagement with the work of photographer Hashem el Madani, who ran a commercial studio for five decades in southern Lebanon. The Arab Image Foundation, which Zaatari co-founded in 1997 with the mission of collecting and preserving photographs from the Arab world, houses and studies the Madani collection; the film aims to complement this, creating contemporary meaning through new contexts and approaches. Arabic with English subtitles.
Shows in the AFAC Film Week, a selection of contemporary feature narratives, documentaries and shorts from countries across the Arab world in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC).
