Lebanon’s leading avant-garde filmmaker Ghassan Salhab creates elliptical works that explore liminal emotional states connected with Lebanon’s troubled history, capturing a sense of disturbance that practically quivers with unexpressed tension. The River concludes a trilogy (preceded by The Mountain and The Valley) that muses on his nation’s psychological state.
Screens at 5pm, 7pm and 9.15pm.
In Arabic with English subtitles. The film is part of the second German Film Festival organised by Goethe-Institut Gulf Region.
