This looks interesting: a series of monologues by women on the theme of “that place we escape to – in our mind – when sh*t hits the fan”. It’s a development of the Express Yourself sessions that have been running around dubai for a couple of years as a kind of open mic for acting talent.
The play is directed by Rosine Saad, a name in the theatre scene in the city, who also runs Express Yourself. As she puts it, “Most of our battles are fought in our heads on a daily basis. We retreat to a dark place inside where our frustration, anger, and bad energy are set free. In this play, this private and hidden place takes centerstage …”
Features Afaf Bibi, Aida Laubach, Aishwarya Searing & TRE Dancers, Alana Hicks, Anika Ali, Catherine Broad, Farrah Yassin, and Lamya Tawfik, with live music by Noor and Ghina Mounzer.
There’s a second performance on 23 September. Both are free, but pre-register – first come first served.
