Janet Bellotto – artist and Professor of Visual Arts at ZU’s College of Arts and Creative Enterprises– has been studying islands as both geography and metaphor for more than a decade. In Salted Edges #islandparadise she explores the concept of liminal space, where islands mark the threshold between two terrains. Her exhibition centres on two islands,Sir Bani Yas off Abu Dhabi and Canada’s Sable Island in the North Atlantic, positioning photographs, videos, sculptures, and found objects within the context of climate change, adaptation, survival, and deluge, encouraging visitors to contemplate the urgent issues of our time.
