InClassica: Well Tempered Chanson
10 September @ 8.00 pm - 10.00 pmFrom AED 150
The InClassica International Music Festival moves from a series of concerts at Dubai Opera to a September run at the Coca-Cola Arena. This time the main attraction is Alexey Shor’s cycle The Well Tempered Chanson, with Belgian violinist Leonard Schreiber and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Shor composed this, probably his best known work, for his friend, violist David Aaron Carpenter; it features a veritable kaleidoscope of styles, looks a lot of fun to play, and should make for an enjoyable evening.
The second half of the programme has Korean pianist Yeol Eum Son with Prokofiev’s popular Concerto for piano and orchestra No.3; and Marius Stravinsky (violin) delivering Smetana’s symphonic poem Šárka, one of a series of six pieces Smetana wrote based on Czech legends.
