Candlelight: Beethoven’s Best Works

Aldo Dotto plays a recital of what does indeed look like 1 pretty good selection of the composer’s works for piano, all lit by candlelight. The programme:

♦ Piano Sonata op.13 ‘Pathetique’ – 1st movement
♦ “Für Elise” (Bagatelle no.25 in A minor)
♦ Piano Sonata No.17 op.31 (The Tempest) – 1st, 2nd and 3rd movements
♦ Piano Sonata op. 27 No.2 (Moonlight) – 1st, 2nd and 3rd movements
♦ “An die Freude” (“Ode to Joy”, transcription by Liszt)

There are performances at 5, 7 and 9pm; each lasts around 65 minutes.
