LAST CHANCE Hazem Harb. Temporary Museum. For Palestine
The Dubai-based Palestinian artist attempts to capture the lost legacies of his homeland in the form of archival materials displayed in vitrine cases within a museological context. Harb has been collecting antique memorabilia of the subject via international online auctions for the past year – ancient maps of Palestine and Phoenicia, books of historical trade routes, family photographs and even Orientalist art depicting the Holy Land. Harb hopes to establish a permanent public museum of his possessions; for now, placing them in an installation-based exhibition setting invites the viewer to reflect on Palestine’s history. The show is curated by Cima Azzam.
