After each round you score the players on a scale of 1 to 5\, and the one with the lowest score is knocked out. Eventually only one remains\, to be crowned the Maestro. “Fast-paced\, unpredictable\, and hilarious” says the promo\, and you couldn’t argue with that. DESCRIPTION:Jumana Emil Abboud’s first solo exhibition in the Emirates draws on the lineage of Palestinian folktales and their continued resonance in the present – how stories inhabit landscapes\, shape personal histories and collective memory\, and create an enchanted relationship to the landscape. \nThe works in this show are like traces and fragments left by the tide’s ebb and flow; “they drift across time and geography\, fact and mythology\, and are grounded in the context of the Palestinian struggle for liberation and return” says the gallery. “Mirroring the exhibition’s title\, the tide’s devotion to the moon’s pull and the storyteller’s slow telling prompt the central question of the exhibition: how do we carry light\, across oceans\, across ruins\, across silence\, without letting it be extinguished?”

Fascinated by ecologies and architecture\, his work connects art\, science\, music\, environmentalism and technology to explore both alternative histories and futures\, through a process of continuous world-building expressed as an explosion of colour and multi-layered narratives; and that should make this first mid-career retrospective of the artist a must-visit. The exhibition\, which is curated by Jessica Cerasi\, features more than 40 works including painting\, sculpture\, monumental film installations\, and interactive virtual reality experiences.

DESCRIPTION:A group exhibition dedicated to mapping and navigation systems\, “telling stories of fast cars and donkeys\, spinning globes and street barricades\, cosmic highways and broken bridges …” Curated by Indranjan Banerjee and Lucas Morin\, the exhibition presents a wide range of practices\, from research-based critical engagements with infrastructure projects to conceptual works that question the very perception of distance. It’s in two parts\, reflecting Art Jameel’s specific geographic footprint at two extremities of the Arabian Peninsula: at the Jameel in Dubai\, the show centres on navigation systems and mobility networks; at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah the exhibition (which runs to 17 October) focuses on cartography and mapping.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Artists’ Rooms: Kamruzzaman Shahdin
DESCRIPTION:A monumental one-room installation that restages the Bangladeshi artist’s The River Remembers. Originally commissioned by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation and created in 2023\, this large-scale textile work has handcrafted threads mapping the colour of the water of the Teesta and the Brahmaputra\, two rivers flowing through the Bengal delta. Engraved brass disks convey the memories and migration stories of two women in the artist’s life whose own lives were strongly marked by the river.
