This tale of a pioneering restaurant around the time of the Revolution is a sweet and savoury tribute to food\, pleasure and égalité at a particularly piquant moment in French history\, filmed with painterly intent by cinematographer Jean-Marie Dreujou and acted with simmering passion by Grégory Gadebois and Isabelle Carré. Both need to feed their desire for revenge against the local aristocrat\, but along the way they decide to create the very first restaurant in France … \nIn French\, with subtitles. The price shown is for non-members; for AF members it’s AED 35. Either way it includes a glass of wine and canapés before the film.

You pay extra for the concerts; a day pass to the festival site without concerts is AED 75\, you’ll pay AED 125 for an all-areas-plus-concert ticket on 25 April (headliners J Hus and AJ Tracey) or AED 195 per day for 26 April (Metro Boomin and Offset) and 27 April (Ty Dolla $ign and Don Toliver). Plus there’s premium-price access-with-extras tickets too. The five-day access-mostly-everything pass at AED 495 seems more of a bargain. \n  \n

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Laura Lappi: Metamorphosis
DESCRIPTION:The first solo exhibition in the MENA region for the Finnish artist. Her work draws inspiration from ancient basilicas\, cathedrals\, and other Scandinavian wooden structures. Using wood as her primary medium\, Lappi establishes a direct connection to her homeland and the natural world through sculptures that evoke architectural qualities. \nTransformation is central to Lappi’s practice; the wall sculptures from her Basilica series show wood transitioning from a living organism to a shaped\, discarded\, reused\, cut\, and organised material. Layering wood to form intricate geometric patterns\, she employs a charring technique using fire; the material  undergoes a profound metamorphosis\, assuming an in-between state\, half-dead and half-alive\, resistant to preservation. \nThe exhibition also introduces a collection of drawings that offer a glimpse into her creative process and inner thoughts. These drawings serve as a bridge between the conceptual realm on paper and the tangible manifestation of transformation in her art\, providing an illuminating perspective on her artistic journey. \n  \n  \n
