DESCRIPTION:An evening of short plays written and directed by Sanjeev Dixit for Third Half Theatre: \nThe Monkey’s Paw: A story of a family whose lives are altered when an old friend brings a strange talisman into their home.  (adaptated from a short story by WW Jacobs) \nFlare up at 311: A couple has a dispute about selling their flat and moving to a more affordable neighborhood. \n\n\n\nI Am: Inspired by real events\, the play follows the journey of a girl growing up in a traditional society. \nTréteau: An amalgamation of inspirations and ideas\, Tréteau is a frenetic distillation of the overarching love of the theatre as an art form shared by playwrights and players alike. \nThe Tragic Queen: A ten-minute musical following two heiresses to a kingdom who must overcome politics and love for the throne. \nJanus: A second-generation immigrant faces uncomfortable competition from someone ‘fresh off the boat’. \nGarçon: Three men happen to meet at a café\, each waiting for that special someone. But who is she? \nIt’s All Been Done Before: A beleaguered writer struggles to finish his script while the characters keep interrupting. \n\n\nThere are further performances on 7 and 8 December.\n\n

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY William Kentridge: A Shadow of a Shadow
DESCRIPTION:A master draughtsman\, illustrator\, filmmaker and sculptor\, William Kentridge is also a prolific theatre-maker who has collaborated with local theatre groups and world-renowned opera houses. This is the first exhibition to focus solely on Kentridge’s theatre practice and surveys 23 performances created by Kentridge from the late 1980s to the present. Presenting drawings\, puppets\, props\, costumes\, animations and stage backdrops\, the exhibition explores how Kentridge’s artistic practice revolves around different theatrical projects that consistently critique the different manifestations of authoritarianism through time.

SUMMARY:Solos on the Barge
DESCRIPTION:For three days (20\, 21 and 22 December\, 5-9pm each day) a barge moored in Sharjah’s historic port across from the Bait Obaid Al Shamsi will host several short performances and monologues from classical Arab theatre delivered by professional actors. The barge will also host workshops\, meetings and reading groups focusing on prominent works of Arab theatre. Delivered in collaboration with the Sharjah Ports\, Customs and Free Zones Authority\, this is part of Sharjah Art Foundation’s Perform Sharjah programme.
