DESCRIPTION:Guided by Jumana Emil Abboud’s practice and drawing on practices of performance\, storytelling\, and material research\, and drawing on his ongoing exhibition The Storyteller and the Obedient Tide\, this symposium brings together artists and practitioners to discuss the mythological and poetic dimensions of water\, with spiriting\, exile and return as central themes. \nParticipating artists include Sherko Abbas\, Katya Garcia-Anton\, Ahmad Nabil\, the Rice Brewing Sisters’ Club\, Raghad Saqfelheit and of course Jumana Emil Abboud. \nThis programme is part of a weekend of symposia on water\, alongside Water as Common Ground: Notes from a Majlis\, taking place on Saturday\, November 7\, 2026. \nImage: Jumana Emil Abboud\, The Promise of Morning (2025: video still)
