DESCRIPTION:Kuniko Kato is one of the world’s leading percussionists\, noted for astonishing virtuosity and flawless technique\, exquisite musical insight and expressive yet elegant performance style; we don’t know what her programme will be\, but she is equally proficient in traditional and contemporary works – she is particularly known for her interpretations of classic 1980s minimalist works by Steve Reich. As one review put it\, “Kuniko is at her best navigating the mathematical terrain of Reich’s score\, coaxing from it the personality of the music: anxious\, busy\, frenetic.
