SUMMARY:Postcard Poems with Balqees Alhawamdeh
DESCRIPTION:Writer and poet Balqees Alhawamdeh invites participants to explore poetry in an approachable and creative way by crafting a short poem as a visual composition using colour\, collage\, and form. It starts with a line from a poem or a personal memory as a prompt; participants will then move into a guided writing exercise and free-writing session\, subsequently translating the poem into postcard form that transform words into a visual object. Open to ages 18+\, no prior experience required\, and materials will be provided. Participants will leave with their own postcard poem and a 421 Artist-Kit curated by Balqees\, including her Poetry Guide

Blending documentary poetics\, archival research\, and text-image practices\, Shamma reflects on her processes of listening\, translating\, and transducing\, as she transformed collective memory into poetry\, drawing\, and collage.
