This “hilarious and heartwarming” adaptation of the popular film\, a successful Broadway and West End musical (music by Jeanine Tesori\, book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire) is based on the first Shrek film\, albeit with elements of the sequels: so we have the grumpy but lovable ogre embarking on a quest to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona for the scheming Lord Farquaad. Along the way\, Shrek is joined by a lively cast of fairytale characters\, including his wisecracking sidekick Donkey.
