DESCRIPTION:The Jameel’s annual festival for eco-consciousness and sustainability is back for its sixth edition in the Arts Centre and across the Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park. Expect activities for all ages themed around botanical\, sustainable and eco-conscious living with hands-on workshops for kids\, tours\, talks and demonstrations\, guided tours of the ongoing Jameel exhibitions (6pm and 8pm on Saturday\, 6pm and 7pm on Sunday)\, interactive art and performances\, all woven together with an eye on nature\, community and conscious living. \nThere’s also … \n> a Farmers Market (“the UAE’s first and longest-running”) with local suppliers offering fresh seasonal produce \n> the Green Bazaar\, with a variety of indoor and outdoor plants\, eco-friendly and sustainable gifts\, preloved fashion and products from local homegrown businesses if you’re looking to “shop consciously” \n> the archly named Urban Market Concept in the Sculpture Park\, with local vendors offering “vintage finds\, streetwear\, sneakers\, accessories\, and more” \n> Faire Trade\, a community-run swap shop for preowned stuff \n> the essential Vinyl Souk\, marketplace and meeting place for vinyl- and indie-oriented music fans. On the Saturday Vinyl Souk is also running an evening of interesting music from the likes of Aaron Kim (stalwart of the Analog Room)\, Vinyl Souk cofounder Jayesh\, and The Radish Cheddar Experiment – Ratish from The Temple with bassist Rami Lakkis and keyboardist Nikolai Mishchencko \n> the Art Jameel Shop\, with a sustainability-themed collection of books and design objects. \nCheck out the full programme here. It’s a continuation of the world created by Collab Company last year with a troupe of singers\, dancers and actors; this time five rookie elves must complete their training at the Christmas Academy and Department of Elvish Training (CADET) in pursuit of their sole mission: to bring joy to families across the UAE. We’re promised interactive\, family-friendly storytelling with lots of laughs\, songs\, and holiday magic in a cosy picnic-style theatre setting (bring a picnic and cushions). \nThere are shows on 6 and 7 December at 11am\, 2pm and 6pm; it’s at South View School in Dubailand. Tickets are AED 75 for kids\, AED 100 for adults\, or AED 300 AED for a Family & Friends four-pack (we assume that’s basically two adults and two kids).

DESCRIPTION:A day full of gallery adventures\, stories\, and hands-on activities for families. It begins with a collective exploration of the idea of ‘ripples’\, riffing on the current 421 exhibition Rays\, Ripples\, Residue; the tour concludes with a reading of Colorful Leaps with curator Munira Al Sayegh on the Bait15 Bed\, an artwork within the exhibition. \nAfterwards there are drop-in activities taking place across 421. Early Starters is hosting creative sessions in Studio 2 & 3 and the Courtyard\, while Studio Play transforms into a hands-on Yallah Play experience led by Hannah Phillips with “sensory stations” and creative activities. \n421 says it’s a day made for kids “but with plenty for grown-ups to enjoy too”.
