SUMMARY:Ahaad Alamoudi: Sunkissed
DESCRIPTION:The motifs of the sun and its intense heat as well as the sand and its pervasive orange hue often serve to represent and condense the Gulf’s complex ecologies and aspirations. This selection of recent and newly commissioned works by Jeddah-based artist Ahaad Alamoudi draws on these stereotypical symbols to examine how collective identity and visual expression intersect\, emerge and unfold amid the region’s rapidly transforming landscape. \nAlamoudi’s snapshots of contemporary Khaleeji aesthetics playfully capture the give-and-take between developmental goals and their real-world manifestation. Viral memes\, talking falcons\, automated toy cars and insect light traps all function as tools to process accelerating change; together\, these works explore how the overarching desire for development is absorbed and rearticulated in everyday life. \nThe exhibition is curated by Amal Al Ali\, Curatorial Assistant at the Foundation. To 3 May. \nRight: Ahaad Alamoudi\, Those Who Don’t Know Falcons Grill Them (still)\, (2018)

SUMMARY:Noura Ali-Ramahi: I Am Not a Chair. Am I a Fox?
DESCRIPTION:This solo show includes works created over several years\, using acrylic\, pastel\, ink\, charcoal\, and found materials such as wood\, fabric\, and recycled objects. At the centre of the exhibition is the recurring image of the chair\, appearing as a symbol of structure\, expectation\, and imposed identity. Opposite it stands the fox: alert\, untamed\, and in motion\, representing instinct\, freedom\, and a refusal to remain fixed. \nTo 18 March.

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY Yuyu Zhitong: Serendipity
DESCRIPTION:The debut solo exhibition in the Middle East for the Chinese-born London-based artist\, known for her luscious sweeps of colour and a mordant wit (“Good Girls Go To Heaven\, Cool Girls Go Everywhere”). This show presents a new body of paintings that develops her intuitive yet disciplined approach to abstraction; working without preparatory sketches\, Zhitong allows each composition to emerge through a continuous process of construction and reconfiguration\, guided by trained intuition and attentive perception. Gesture\, rhythm\, and colour operate as structural elements\, shaping works that balance spontaneity with control. \nThe gallery says the exhibition title refers to the ability to recognise meaning within chance encounters: “for Zhitong\, painting becomes a site where intuition meets uncertainty\, and where form and significance emerge through observation rather than intention. Each work captures a moment of alignment between perception\, emotion\, and structure …”

SUMMARY:Ludmilla Radchenko: Wings of Power
DESCRIPTION:Works resulting from a year of profound transformation initiated by the artist’s journey to Nepal\, “where inner awareness and self-observation became central to her practice”. Radchenko’s visual language combines painting\, collage\, symbolism\, and layered cultural references\, creating compositions that are bold\, ironic\, and emotionally charged. SUMMARY:Khozema Al-Aaed: We Walk on Stories
DESCRIPTION:Khozema Al‑Aaed’s solo exhibition reimagines cartographies\, reminding us that land absorbs our movements\, our wounds\, our hopes\, “becoming a living archive of human presence” as the gallery puts it. “The compositions resemble traces of cities once inhabited\, imagined\, or departed. Lines recall footsteps and pathways that may no longer exist\, yet continue to shape identity and belonging. Land appears not as a passive surface\, but as a living archive that absorbs stories\, wounds\, and hopes over time …” \nThe exhibition has been curated by Lina Mikati. \nTo 13 April. \nRight: Khozema Al-Aaed\, Cities 2 (2025)

SUMMARY:Luis Olaso: Photosynthesis
DESCRIPTION:New work by the Spanish artist\, which the gallery says marks a pivotal moment in his practice. They were created in his new studio in Cádiz\, surrounded by olive\, almond\, and orange trees\, allowing nature to enter physically and psychologically; rather than depicting this environment directly\, Olaso allows it to act as a catalyst for emotion\, intuition\, and subconscious response. As the artist puts it: “Even when I work with plants\, flowers\, or everyday elements\, I am not aiming for literal representation; they are a vehicle to express abstract metaphors of myself and the moment I am living while creating the work”. \nTo 9 March. \nRight: Luis Olaso\, Composition for a field of red poppies (2025)

SUMMARY:Nazilya Nagimova: Follow the Snail
DESCRIPTION:The first solo exhibition in the Emirates for the Münster-based Tatar artist Nazilya Nagimova brings together new works created specifically for her solo project at NIKA Project Space\, plus selections from earlier projects. \nNagimova explores memory\, migration\, and the search for belonging\, and these works share a thematic core: the artist’s ongoing experiments with felt (a traditional material of her ancestors)\, her engagement with the long histories of Tatar mobility and settlement\, and the idea of home as a mobile\, vulnerable\, and constantly transforming structure. Says the gallery: “The exhibition unfolds as a reflection on the fragility of shelter and on how personal and collective memory shape our intimate relationship to place and community”. \nTo 4 April. \nRight: Nazilya Nagimova\, Jort\, White (2025)

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY RUSTING ECHOES
DESCRIPTION:Works by Yoshi (Aisha Al Ali)\, Ammar Al Banna\, Ahmed Al Kuwaiti and Shaikha Al Shamsi. The theme is time as both a material and emotional presence\, expressed through processes of transformation\, memory\, repetition\, and decay – so time not as a measured unit\, but as something felt through texture\, resonance\, and change. “The artists engage in slow\, process-driven methods that register time through touch\, material\, and repetition” and the exhibition “reflects on how time manifests quietly through change\, decay\, and resonance\, revealing both impermanence and continuity in the marks it leaves …” It is curated by art educator and researcher Sarrah Bashir.

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY Bady Dalloul: Self-portrait with a Cat I Don’t Have
DESCRIPTION:An extended solo exhibition for the Syrian-French artist\, curated by Art Jameel’s Lucas Morin. \nSelf-portrait with a cat I don’t have is Bady Dalloul’s first institutional solo exhibition in the United Arab Emirates. Blending autobiographical anecdotes with stories of individuals he encounters\, the artworks feature fragile heroes and ordinary people navigating systems larger than themselves. Dalloul repurposes everyday materials—including books\, matchboxes\, board games and magazines—to create surprising dialogues across cultures and genres. He elevates everyday narratives into epics\, bridges high and low brow\, and importantly\, connects non-Western cultures\, at times unexpectedly\, outside of conventional delineations and Eurocentric gaze. \nSpecially made for this exhibition\, Age of Empires\, a new series of 50 works on paper\, uses onmyōdō\, a 19th-century Japanese astrology manual\, to contemplate the life and death of imperial power. On the gallery walls\, Matchboxes\, a series of dozens of minuscule drawings framed in matchboxes\, offer snapshots of everyday scenes\, news broadcasts and political developments witnessed by the artist over the years\, notably in his family’s native Syria. Inside a recreated apartment inspired by Dalloul’s live-in studio in Dubai\, multiple small works retrace the last five years of his nomadic practice.

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim: Two Clouds in the Night Sky
DESCRIPTION:A solo show celebrating the work of Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim\, a massively influential figure in the development of contemporary art in the UAE. He was part of the UAE’s first generation of contemporary artists from the late 1980s\, an avant-garde scene that included Hassan Sharif\, Abdullah Al Saadi\, Hussein Sharif\, and Mohammed Kazem. \nThis exhibition should allow for an exploration of Ibrahim’s meditative\, process-driven practice. Ibrahim’s work has been inspired by a lifelong relationship with the environment of Khorfakkan\, his place of birth. This deep connection to his local environment repeats itself throughout his studio practice\, whether through his installations\, drawings or objects\, and the materials he has worked with for over three decades.

SUMMARY:POSTPONED Mouteea Murad: Exodus Through the Maze – Disorientation as Fate
DESCRIPTION:“Disorientation does not begin with the wandering mind\, but with an excess of questioning\,” says the gallery in introducing this exhibition of the Syria-born Sharjah-based artist’s most recent body of work. “In this context\, art is not considered a linear path or a complete narrative\, but rather a constantly shifting one –moving between memory\, origin\, and transformation.” \nIn Exodus through the Maze\, Murad explores art as a practice influenced by existing visuals – “derived from everyday imagery and experiences\, as well as the ongoing development of past visual languages”. The collages on display reference elements of modern and contemporary art within a new visual framework that opens the image to reinterpretation. \nTo 10 April. \nRight: Mouteea Murad\, Trial No. 173 – The Fate of the Red Exodus I (2024)

SUMMARY:Nihad Al Turk: Creatures of Hope
DESCRIPTION:Without formal art schooling\, Nihad Al Turk has developed a distinctive visual language that blends colours\, forms\, and patterns\, “preserving his naïve sensibility while conveying his philosophical outlook and artistic vision”. His paintings typically feature anthropomorphic shapes and figures\, a form of self-portraiture that reflects Al Turk’s view on humanity and his connection with the world – “these haunting\, creature-like beings represent the complexity of our human ecosystem”. \nTo 9 May. \nRight: Nihad Al-Turk\, Heroism (2014)

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY Huma Shoaib: Fractal
DESCRIPTION:Huma Shoaib has always been an interesting\, thoughtful artist\, creating patterns from sacred geometry and looking for analogies in life and nature. She often uses paper cut silhouettes layered with detailed graphite drawings that typically adds three-dimensional depth to otherwise flat imagery. \nAccording to the gallery\, this new show is “an exhibition that explores chaos as fractal paradox; where perfect\, infinite patterns of existence\, spirituality and free will will repeat across scales\, blurring the line between divine order and self-destructive conflict …” Significantly influenced by sufi ideologies\, Huma Shoaib’s work tries to break down this chaos into simple fractal structures that speak of order\, perfection\, the divine.

SUMMARY:Jane Beveridge: Local
DESCRIPTION:The Dubai-based artist’s first solo show aim to capture the essence of Dubai\, and of belonging. Says the artist\, who is currently Head of Art at Dubai College: “my visual palette and material inspiration are rooted in the streets. I am drawn to the beauty of cracked\, stained\, and weathered walls as well as surfaces patched with plaster or paint – they read like large abstract paintings. Corrugated cardboard\, concrete\, sand\, rust\, tangled wires\, weathered wood – all find their way into my work\, each carrying a story of time\, place and texture …” \nTo 6 April.

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY Luis Olaso: Photosynthesis

SUMMARY:CLOSING TODAY Alia Hussain Lootah: In the Space of Becoming
DESCRIPTION:In this new body of work – paintings\, drawings\, and sculpture – Alia Lootah continues an exploration of how form moves\, shifts\, and transforms (“a form is never finished\, only paused”). Shapes stretch\, collapse\, and reappear altered\, “existing in a space between recognition and ambiguity” as the gallery puts it. \nThe exhibition is anchored by knitted sculptures that demonstrate how simple materials can generate complexity – structures produced by a meditative\, rhythmic act shaped by memory and labour\, contrasting softness and stability\, movement and stillness. “The exhibition invites viewers to engage patiently\, witnessing forms that are always unfolding\, always becoming …”

SUMMARY:Douglas White: The Great Wave
DESCRIPTION:Throughout his practice\, White approaches sculpture as a kind of material alchemy – discarded substances are reworked forms that appear uncannily animate: industrial debris becomes wave\, tree\, or cosmic surface\, revealing unexpected continuities between natural forces and technological systems. \nTwo sculptures form the centre of the exhibition. In The Great Wave (after Hokusai)\, fragments of torn tyre rubber collected from roadsides around the world gather into a dense\, turbulent crest that rises above the viewer – one of the most recognisable images in art history\, understood as a moment of impending force poised above fragile human lives. And the monumental Black Palm rises through the gallery like an improbable organism\, assembled from lengths of discarded tyre rubber\, its trunk and fronds have presence of a living structure – an artificial tree grown from the residues of global mobility. \nAcross the exhibition White’s works reveal the hidden energies that shape material form. In the Lichtenberg Drawings\, high-voltage electrical discharges burn branching patterns directly into the surface of wood\, creating lightning-like structures that emerge through the interaction of energy and resistance. And the electroformed Black Sun works develop slowly through the accumulation of copper in electrically charged baths\, allowing metallic surfaces to crystallise over time. \nTo 6 May.
