SUMMARY:Dubai Singers & Orchestra: Music of the Isles
DESCRIPTION:This concert celebrating “the best of the choral and orchestral works of the British Isles” features some 60 voices and a 30-piece orchestra conducted by musical director Howard Wong. “The best” is a grand claim\, but certainly the programme features some well-loved classics – Nimrod\, The Lark Ascending\, On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring – before culminating with John Rutter’s glorious Requiem\, featuring soprano soloist Luana Godwin.

SUMMARY:The Fridge Presents: A Tribute to Peace
DESCRIPTION:A rare choral collaboration between Chorus Omnis and Angels Singing Choir\, two exceptional local ensembles united under choirmasters Marc Misael Gamil and Yuliana Kireyeva. “The performance takes the roots of choral music and stretches its capacity in rhythm and vibe\, flowing through sacred works\, folk traditions\, classical arrangements\, contemporary compositions\, and pop …” Why pop? “Because when you’re talking about peace\, you need music that actually connects people.” Shoiuld be a good evening.

SUMMARY:Les Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois: Concert for Peace
DESCRIPTION:The famous French a cappella boys’ choir – made up of boys between 9 and 15 years old\, and for some reason styled in English as The Little Singers of Paris – is coming to the Sorbonne for a free concert. We have no idea about specifics of the programme\, though it apparently features songs in French\, Arabic and English “to spread a message of tolerance”. And the choir’s broad repertoire does include Darius Milhaud’s ‘Cantata of Peace’ which he wrote for the Little Singers in 1937. (Milhaud\, at the time probably France’s premier composer\, called the school “a miracle of faith\, tenacity\, enthusiasm and talent”).
