SUMMARY:Jane Beveridge: Local
DESCRIPTION:The Dubai-based artist’s first solo show aim to capture the essence of Dubai\, and of belonging. Says the artist\, who is currently Head of Art at Dubai College: “my visual palette and material inspiration are rooted in the streets. I am drawn to the beauty of cracked\, stained\, and weathered walls as well as surfaces patched with plaster or paint – they read like large abstract paintings. Corrugated cardboard\, concrete\, sand\, rust\, tangled wires\, weathered wood – all find their way into my work\, each carrying a story of time\, place and texture …” \nTo 6 April.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Luis Olaso: Photosynthesis
DESCRIPTION:New work by the Spanish artist\, which the gallery says marks a pivotal moment in his practice. They were created in his new studio in Cádiz\, surrounded by olive\, almond\, and orange trees\, allowing nature to enter physically and psychologically; rather than depicting this environment directly\, Olaso allows it to act as a catalyst for emotion\, intuition\, and subconscious response. As the artist puts it: “Even when I work with plants\, flowers\, or everyday elements\, I am not aiming for literal representation; they are a vehicle to express abstract metaphors of myself and the moment I am living while creating the work”.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Alia Hussain Lootah: In the Space of Becoming
DESCRIPTION:In this new body of work – paintings\, drawings\, and sculpture – Alia Lootah continues an exploration of how form moves\, shifts\, and transforms (“a form is never finished\, only paused”). Shapes stretch\, collapse\, and reappear altered\, “existing in a space between recognition and ambiguity” as the gallery puts it. \nThe exhibition is anchored by knitted sculptures that demonstrate how simple materials can generate complexity – structures produced by a meditative\, rhythmic act shaped by memory and labour\, contrasting softness and stability\, movement and stillness. “The exhibition invites viewers to engage patiently\, witnessing forms that are always unfolding\, always becoming …”

DESCRIPTION:Sara Naim’s fourth solo show at the gallery is also her first public exhibition of paintings\, large-scale works produced between 2023 and 2026 that move between figuration and abstraction. The exhibition is accompanied by a new video performance\, Mother Practices Her Tongue (2026)\, which “abstracts the Arabic language into gestures and sounds that no longer produce coherent meaning … Together\, the paintings and video extend Naim’s ongoing investigation into how meaning is constructed through inherited systems such as language\, symbols\, and ideology”. \nTo 31 May. \nAbove: Sara Naim\, Skin 8 (2025) \n

SUMMARY:Douglas White: The Great Wave
DESCRIPTION:Throughout his practice\, White approaches sculpture as a kind of material alchemy – discarded substances are reworked forms that appear uncannily animate: industrial debris becomes wave\, tree\, or cosmic surface\, revealing unexpected continuities between natural forces and technological systems. \nTwo sculptures form the centre of the exhibition. In The Great Wave (after Hokusai)\, fragments of torn tyre rubber collected from roadsides around the world gather into a dense\, turbulent crest that rises above the viewer – one of the most recognisable images in art history\, understood as a moment of impending force poised above fragile human lives. And the monumental Black Palm rises through the gallery like an improbable organism\, assembled from lengths of discarded tyre rubber\, its trunk and fronds have presence of a living structure – an artificial tree grown from the residues of global mobility. \nAcross the exhibition White’s works reveal the hidden energies that shape material form. In the Lichtenberg Drawings\, high-voltage electrical discharges burn branching patterns directly into the surface of wood\, creating lightning-like structures that emerge through the interaction of energy and resistance. And the electroformed Black Sun works develop slowly through the accumulation of copper in electrically charged baths\, allowing metallic surfaces to crystallise over time. \nTo 6 May.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Kais Salman: Remnants
DESCRIPTION:New work by Kais Salman\, who “places his audience among ruins … his recent body of work acting as a pile of forgotten images buried beneath decades of historical buildup … Faces emerge through Salman’s energetic brushwork\, only to fade back into the walls and dissolve into material debris. Therefore\, rendering his paintings as spaces of loss …” Recognised for his very characteristic abstract expressionist style\, Salman’s energetic brushwork and gestural application of acrylics in vibrant colours express an urgency and energy\,  “a space where introspection transforms into insight”.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Saher Nassar: Chronicles from the Storm
DESCRIPTION:In this new body of work\, Nassar reflects on prolonged states of loss\, endurance\, and moral exhaustion\, translating deeply personal and collective experiences across multiple mediums. Says the gallery: “Rather than seeking resolution or catharsis\, the works dwell in a state of moral exhaustion where clarity is suspended and certainty dissolves. This prolonged experience becomes a reluctant muse\, granting the artist the distance needed to engage more deeply with his subject matter: studies of loss\, the collapse of familiar symbols\, the formation of new convictions\, and an intimacy with endurance that arrives without epiphany or closure …”

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Noura Ali-Ramahi: I Am Not a Chair. Am I a Fox?
DESCRIPTION:This solo show includes works created over several years\, using acrylic\, pastel\, ink\, charcoal\, and found materials such as wood\, fabric\, and recycled objects. At the centre of the exhibition is the recurring image of the chair\, appearing as a symbol of structure\, expectation\, and imposed identity. Opposite it stands the fox: alert\, untamed\, and in motion\, representing instinct\, freedom\, and a refusal to remain fixed.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE :mentalKLINIK: Are You Human Enough
DESCRIPTION:Set within an environment of visual overload and compulsive accumulation\, the work in this third solo exhibition at the gallery for the artist duo centres on the human figure at risk of dissolving into surface\, interface\, and pattern – a mere carrier of data and aesthetic signals. \nThe exhibition brings together a video work featuring the MetaHuman Viola (from the series Lunatic Poet\, 2024)\, whose fragmented speech echoes the pressures of contemporary digital life; and LIKEWISE (2025: above)\, a 360-degree installation composed of camouflaged mirrored panels – printed surfaces depicting parrots\, lobsters\, manicured hands\, lipstick\, and jewellery are physically disrupted through smearing and erosion\, merging digital production with manual intervention. Camouflage patterns\, advertising references\, and fractured reflections interrupt clear vision\, producing moments of visual saturation and pause …

SUMMARY:Move Pause Return
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Isabelle is celebrating its 20th anniversary\, not least with this interesting exhibition that grew out of a conversation with Alexie Glass-Kantor\, Curatorial Director at Art Dubai Group\, around the notion of accumulation – as both a curatorial method and a lived experience. So for this 20-day exhibition\, 20 artists have been invited to participate – “artists … who were present from the very beginning\, who helped build the ecosystem alongside us\, and who have grown\, persisted\, and moved forward together over time”. \nThe aim is to reflect “an accumulated history of stories\, relationships\, and artistic development … Accumulation here speaks to first encounters and decisive turning points\, to emblematic works that shifted narratives\, to new introductions\, neighbours\, and the wider community that has enabled the gallery to remain present\, relevant\, responsive\, and adaptable across two decades”. \nThe exhibition itself features one new work each day during the run: writers\, collectors\, and curators have been invited to engage closely with a selected work\, contributing a short text that responds to their encounter with it. The 20 days will culminate in a reception at the gallery on 11 April\, where all works will be exhibited simultaneously to mark “a collective celebration of the scene we have built\, sustained\, and continue to shape together”.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Anahita Razmi: The Task of the Mythologist
DESCRIPTION:Anahita Razmi’s video\, installation and performance works usually focus on issues of identity and gender and examine processes of cultural appropriation in which the meanings of existing images\, artefacts and thus identities are put into question by situating them in another context. Her sixth solo exhibition at the gallery references Roland Barthes’ Mythologies (1957)\, a seminal work on the subject that examines how culture turns mundane objects and practices into myths that convey ideological meanings; Razmi builds on this premise to find global power structures embedded in our material and virtual; for her\, symbols such as the fingers-crossed emoji\, a Turkish talismanic shirt\, or a 90s Britpop emblem hold unstable meanings\, shifting with context and use. The act of deconstructing these layered meanings is what Barthes describes as “the task of the mythologist.” \nFor Razmi’s ongoing Talismanic Polarities series (2021–present)\, unique Islamic talismanic shirts are pinned with buttons reading YES\, BUT\, NO and AND; “by foregrounding these semantic framing devices\, Razmi incorporates tools of interpretation into a renewed reading of an object that sustains multiple and even conflicting possibilities” says the gallery. \nA new work\, OA SIS (2025) features Oasis band T-shirts with evil eye appliqués covering the OA so that only SIS remains:  a signifier of Western masculinity revised into one of Eastern femininity or a comment on the commercialisation of feminism? Or both? Or more?

SUMMARY:Abdulqader Al Rais: Al Nayed
DESCRIPTION:A retrospective for one of the artists who have played a central role in shaping the UAE’s modern visual identity\, featuring work from a career spanning more than five decades. Bridging heritage and modernity with authority\, Al Rais’s paintings draw deeply on Emirati heritage\, Islamic culture\, and the interplay between the UAE’s natural landscapes and architecture. As the gallery puts it\, “Al Nayed captures the cultural transformation of the UAE without nostalgia”. \nThe exhibition include rare works from the artist’s private collection and a selection of previously unseen new work\, but also draws substantially from five of the artist’s best known series – Alghaf\, inspired by the ghaf tree\, a national symbol of the UAE; Calligraphy (Hurufiyya)\, where Arabic letters function as visual and spiritual forms; Impressionism\, early depictions of UAE landscapes rendered with soft\, atmospheric brushstrokes; Alhaa\, a distinctive series of watercolours on paper; and Abstract\, which combines geometric elements with landscape compositions. \nTo 8 April. \nAbove: Abdulqader Al Rais\, Untitled\, from Serenity Series (2016). SUMMARY:POSTPONED March Meeting 2026
DESCRIPTION:Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual convening of artists\, curators\, scholars and arts practitioners from around the world to discuss issues in contemporary art focuses this time on effective responses to global challenges in social unrest\, environmental degradation\, systemic erasure and alienation. \nThrough panels\, keynotes\, conversations and performances\, participants will examine how historical entanglements of language\, geography\, economy and social organisation shape our present. How can kinship\, memory and humour sustain connection even as shared stories fracture or fade? What forms of transmission – oral\, visual\, sonic\, literary\, archival – can trace the movement of knowledge and experience between people and places? \nThe March Meeting is always interesting and often insightful; there aren’t many equivalent symposia anywhere in the world (especially when attendance is free).  The provisional programme is here.

SUMMARY:Bashar Khalaf: The Field of Dreams
DESCRIPTION:Khalaf explores the relationship between self\, object\, and other through a focus on ‘steel’ in public spaces: The Field of Dreams\, or “dreams as minefields”\, remind us of the modern structures of unbridled capitalism and the transformative domination of life. This is delivered via two series of oil paintings\, The Junk Garden and The Protective Shield. The latter is particularly powerful\, using garbage bins as symbols of resistance during the First Intifada – juxtaposing their role as protective barriers against the colonial settler machinery with the oppressive use of steel barrels to enforce isolation.\nKhalaf asks questions about humanity’s choices in the face of hegemony and the nature of freedom in contemporary society. \nTo 1 June.

SUMMARY:LAST CHANCE Abdelwahab Hawam: Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The debut exhibition in the UAE by the emerging Egyptian artist draws inspiration from Hawam’s hometown of El Mahalla El Kubra in Gharbeya Governorate – its countryside\, colours\, and the faces of people who shaped his early life. Working in oils\, Hawam places women at the centre of this universe through surreal\, playful narrative compositions and colours; he reimagines human experiences with an uplifting\, optimistic vision that invites viewers into his vibrant\, magical world.
