SUMMARY:Ahmad Nabil: Fetus Exodus
DESCRIPTION:A Jameel Library Commission by the Palestinian artist and educator that explores regional myths and legends through ten monthly texts – chapters in fact\, in digital form – that address an imagined foetus (referred to as a “child of myths”) as it prepares to be born. Through this imagined dialogue\, the foetus is introduced to mythological thought and encouraged to embrace a shared imaginarium. The chapters traverse the entire cycle from creation and birth to resurrection\, encouraging exploration of their commonalities while making space for differences. \nAfter its conclusion on 27 July you can still view the whole project here.

SUMMARY:Mama Mia!
DESCRIPTION:The worldwide smash hit arrives in Abu Dhabi with its heartwarming story (the lighthearted and humorous tale of a mother\, her daughter\, and three possible fathers on an idyllic Greek island)\, created by Judy Craymer – who rarely gets the credit she’s due – around the songs of Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Apparently 65 million people around the world have seen the show\, and there’s a good chance that this extended run on Yas will add substantially to that number … Note that there are separate prices for weekdays (starting at AED 125) and weekends (from AED 200). Before the Friday and Saturday evening performances there’s also an Abba/Mediterranean themed brunch deal of offer at AED 199 per ticket. \nPerformances: \n11 June 7.30pm\n12 June 7.30pm\n13 June 7.30pm\n14 June 1pm\n14 June 6pm\n15 June 1pm\n15 June 6pm \n19 June 7.30pm\n20 June 7.30pm\n21 June 1pm\n21 June 7pm\n22 June 1pm\n22 June 6pm

SUMMARY:Tracing the Unseen: Landscapes of Memory and Metaphor
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition brings together four artists from the Atassi Foundation collection – Walid El-Masri\, Farouq Kondakji\, Rida Hus Hus\, and Omar Hamdi – whose work reimagines the landscape not as a fixed geography\, but as a space of memory\, metaphor\, and transformation. Together\, these works resist traditional representations of land or nation; instead\, they explore how landscapes can hold the trace of emotion\, the residue of experience\, and the shifting boundaries of identity. As the Foundation’s blurb puts it: “In this exhibition\, landscape is not where the story begins – it is where it continues to unfold.”.

SUMMARY:Evgeny Khmara: Piano in Motion
DESCRIPTION:The noted Ukrainian double pianist makes classical music accessible without losing its depth\, “blending familiar influences with a modern touch” as the promoter puts it. For this performance he will play both a baby grand and a Roland electric piano\, switching between instruments and sometimes playing both at the same time. We don’t know the programme\, but he’s a talented composer; so it will probably be his own work …
