DESCRIPTION:This immersive theatrical installation uses nearly 5\,000 points of lights and hundreds of speakers (496-channel sound) to create an interactive theatrical cosmos where viewers become active explorers\, discovering the traces of themselves in light\, the universe\, and those who have been here before us. An unseen narrator guides you through a darkened space\, the light points responding to the presence and the movements of each individual … \nYou can sign up for a Guided Journey for up to eight people (45 minutes or so) or get an entry time for the Open Universe self-guided installation (up to 40 people\, go at your own pace (up to an hour). It’s free\, but pre-register for a ticket – and most of the eight-person Guided Experiences have already sold out. There are sessions between 2.30 and 5.30pm and 7-11pm every day between 5 and 10 September.

DESCRIPTION:Chopin favourites by candlelight\, a recital for solo piano by Aldo Dotto. These concerts are “a series of classical music concerts aimed at democratising access to classical music by allowing people all over the world to enjoy live candlelit music performances … by creating intimate experiences where fans can connect directly with their favourite artists”. The specific plus is illumination by thousands of candles\, with a programme that does indeed look quite inviting (even if “best” does set the bar rather high; at these prices a high bar is the least you can expect for a one-hour show). \n\n\nThe (tentative) programme: \n\n\nNocturnes op.9 n.2\nNocturne in C sharp minor\nPolonaise op.44\nPrelude op.28 n.4\nPrelude op.28 n.15 ‘Raindrop’\nFantaisie-Impromptu op.66\nValse op.64 n.2\nValse op.69 n.1\nScherzo op.31 n.2\n\nThere are three performances during the day at 3.30pm\, 6.30pm and 9.30pm.

SUMMARY:Rosie Holt: The Woman’s Hour
DESCRIPTION:This should be interesting. Rosie Holt is a actress and writer who’s best known as a satirist with a massive Twitter presence for her roles as a parody Johnson-worshipping MP (surely not modelled on Nadine Dorries?). This show includes a couple of versions of that characters\, along with several other caricatures of burbling backbenchers\, a woke-bashing TV host and a posh lefty whose social-justice standards are immeasurably higher than anyone else’s. It’s all crisply observed and delivered with impeccable timing\, although Holt came to prominence as one of a clutch of good lockdown comics in short social media performances\, this show proves she can make the transition to a bigger stage and a longer format. \nStill\, she works particularly well in smallish comedy venues; the QE2 venue is just about the right size and its plush stylings might suit her biting wit\, but its usual Dubai audience might not be best fit for her brand of topical\, political and UK-centric humour. That said\, she is very sharp and well worth seeing … Recommended.
