Two young Emirati jewellery designers, Asma Almarri and Media Alfalasi, have jointly been awarded the ADMAF Design Fund. They each get AED 50,000 to develop their careers with the support of partnership with L’ÉCOLE des Arts Joailliers, the Van Cleef & Arpels school of jewellery arts.
Launched in 2019, the award provides training and mentorship to help young people interested in jewellery design gain the skills they need to succeed in the industry. So as well as the cash, the two designers had five days in Paris to attend courses at L’ÉCOLE, designed to give me insights and techniques in jewellery styles and craftsmanship.
Marie Vallanet-Delhom, President of the School of Jewellery Arts, said L’ÉCOLE was proud to give Asma Almarri and Media Alfalasi “the guidance essential for young designers and innovators like them to become successful professionals in the field of jewellery arts … With the positive partnership with ADMAF, we strive to instil an intellectual and emotional understanding of jewellery and encourage young talent from the Middle East to scale greater heights.”
